This is a Multichip PIC programmer using serial port. The programmer is a JDM Clone, named after its Original developer Jens Dyekjar Madsen who devised this first. The Programmer can program 8-pin to 40-pin devices using single ZIF socket as well as ICSP cable. ICSP option is available at Connector CN3 which is clearly marked for pin description. LED D4 Provides Visual indication of programming taking place. This Programmer does not need any power supply. SW1 is a switch select for programming 40-28 and 18-8 PIC Micros in the ZIF socket. Since the programming voltage is taken from the Serial Port of the Computer, it is recommended you check this voltage before using it. Voltage at TxD, DTR and RTS should be ± 7.5V and above. Insertion position of different PIC are clearly marked on the PCB if you wish to use the ZIF socket for programming. SW2 on the PCB selects the “VPP before VDD” option available for certain PIC micros with Internal OSC and MCLR chosen. Please check the datasheet of the respective PIC you choose to program for this feature. Some popular programming software used along with this programmer are IC-Prog of Bonny Gijzen and WinPic800 available at http://www.winpic800.com . These are freely downloadable from the net.
